A film director gathers a group of actresses for a project centered on women, setting his story in 1970s Rome at Sartoria Canova, a prestigious costume workshop for film and theater. Run by the stern Alberta and the sensitive Gabriella, the atelier becomes the stage for the lives, rivalries, and pressures of the women who create elaborate costumes while facing personal and professional challenges.
