Black Barbie EN

Synopsis

This documentary traces the story behind the first Black Barbie doll, beginning with the filmmaker’s aunt and her simple question: why couldn’t Barbie look like her? The film explores the push for representation and diversity through the role of three trailblazing women at Mattel, whose efforts helped bring a doll to life that reflected girls who had not seen themselves in Barbie before.
